Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen.
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
The last training on my road bike had arrived. The next ride on the road bike would be in Arizona. I drove to Fall City to ride my bike in the morning.
Two tire flats, an additional trip back into Issaquah to the bike shop was not in the plan. I was becoming paranoid. By then, over 2 hours had passed and the morning training was turning into an afternoon training. I returned to Fall City and biked 35 miles. Back at the car, I changed into running shoes and started a short 20 minute run.
Little did I know, I was destined to meet Nick Roumonada that afternoon.
Nick is an experienced Ironman who runs with a custom blade. We were both on the farm road running at the same time and place. We stopped and talked for a long time.
He is one of the most alive, encouraging, and inspirational athletes I have ever meet. At that moment, I knew all would be well at Ironman AZ. The powers above me were looking down and taking care of me. I believed in myself that all would be well.
